My Top 10 Directors…So Far

Hello guys, so today I show you my favourite directors of all time, enjoy !

Here are some honorable mentions :

  • Ridley Scott
  • David Ayer
  • Guillermo del Toro
  • Matthew Vaughn
  • George Miller

10. Bryan Singer

Bryan Singer

Favourite movie : The Usual Suspects

The movie mentioned above was just mind – blowing having one of the biggest twists off all time, in my viewing, and come on who didn’t love the “X – men” so awesome ! Everything he does now it is pretty awesome and well done try and watch “The Usual Suspects” and you see what I am talking about and that was in 1995 when Bryan was very young.

9. Kathryn Bigelow

Favourite movie : The Hurt Locker

This person right here was the first ever woman who won an oscar for best director, being an example not only for all the female directors out there but for all the women in the world. She won it for the movie “The Hurt Locker” ( highly advise to you ) that ended up winning 6 oscars, including best picture, so right after this great doing she started to get a lot more respect and more attention resulting in a numerous Oscar nominations for his next movie “Zero Dark Thirty”. For now she is working on another movie so let´s see if it is another great piece of art !

8. Alejandro González Iñárritu

Favourite movie : The Revenant

This man already won 2 Oscars for best director ( 2 years in a row, 2015 – 2016 ), made 3 films who won an Oscar for best picture ( 2 ) and another for the best foreign film ( 1 ) and as for the rest of the movies that he made they were nominated for Oscars and some of them win some too, so these are enormous achievements since he only directed 6 films and all of them were nominated for the Academy Awards naming movies like “The Revenant”, “Birdman or ( The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance )” and “Babel”.

7. Tim Burton

Favourtie movie : Edward Scissorhands

Burton does the most bizarre movies ever and that is what I like about him, even thought, his best movies are far behind him he still does very entertaining and funny films. Every one should watch a Tim Burton flick because it is so strange but so cool at the same time ! Also in most of his movies Johnny Depp is present creating the association of Johnny Depp with odd characters like Sweeney Todd, Willy Wonka, Mad Hatter and Edward Scissorhands.

6. Steven Spielberg

Favourite movie : Schindler’s List

This guy is a genius having a library of classics under his belt like “Schinler’s List”, “Jaws”, “Saving Private Ryan”, “Indiana Jones”, “Jurassic Park” and “E.T. the Extra – Terrestrial” and now with that said I think I made myself clear of how important and impactful genious is.

5. David Fincher

Favourite movie – Fight Club

Ever since I watched “Fight Club” I have been in love with David and I mean come on let´s look at another films that he made – “Seven”, “Zodiac”, “The Curious Case of Benjamim Button” and “Gone Girl” – and every single one of them is eye catching, interesting, intense, awesome and just epic. Definitely watch “Fight Club” it will change your view on cinema !

4. Stanley Kubrik

Favourite movie :  A Clockwork Orange

I didn’t knew about the existence of this director until my sister told me to watch “A Clockwork Orange” and after I watched it  let me tell you that it changed my whole viewing of the cinema ( just like “Figh Club” but even more ), this man was so inovative and influential, specially during that time. All of his movies were legendary and just so “revealing” for that time, so here to name a few “Lolita”, “2001 : Space Odissey”, “The Shining” and “Full Metal Jacket”. RIP Stanley Kubrik we will all miss you !

3. Martin Scorsese

 Favourite movie : Goodfellas

Martin you are the man, so many great films were made by the hand of this prodigy of a director, and I am talking about “The Taxi Driver”, “Casino”, “The Aviator”, “The Departed”, “Shutter Island” and “The Wolf of Wall Street” who just like Tim Burton is with Johnny Depp, in Martin’s case is Leonardo DiCaprio and thank god it is that way. When you mix up Martin Scorcese and Leo you know that you are in for a memorable ride.

2. Quentin Tarantino

Favourite movie : Pulp Fiction

Now, I know that I have been saying legendary and prodigy and genious on this list several times but it is in this director right here that this words are best suited or maybe combined them to create the ultimate adjetive like “legendigious”, yep that is the one. Moving on, Tarantino almost made number 1, being the responsible for one of the most entertaining and fun to watch movies of all time, for example, “Reservoir Dogs”, ” Jackie Brown”, “Kill Bill” vol.1 and vol.2, ” Inglorious Bastards”, “Django Unchained”, “Hateful Eight” and f*cking “Pulp Fiction” and if you never watched this film, congratulations you know nothing about cinema ! Goodbye !

1. Christopher Nolan

Favourite movie : The Dark Knigh

Finally, here we are, Nolan is my favourite director ever, due to some reasons like the fact that every movie that he does has unique twists, interesting stories, likeable and hateful characters and just memorable and epic moments. His finest works were “Memento”, “The Prestige”, “Inception”, “Interstellar” and “The Dark Knight” Trilogy and if you noticed, that is all of his work so his finest works are all of them and that is how good he is. Thanks to him, Batman is still “alive” after he was almost killed by “Batman and Sh*thead”, and in the process he made a successful trilogy ( which is hard ) giving us unforgettable moments, delivered justice to the characters and killed our time in the most pleasantly way possible. Please try and watch any of these movies of him and then tell me what do you though of it !

Now, what is your favourite director ? And which movie did you like the most made by him / her ?

  1. Would have s similar list. Nolan my favourite, but won’t be the bear director for me. Coen brothers, I would have added instead of Speilberg. But Let’s talk Nolan!! You might like YouTube channel: nerdwriter1. Has done a video essay on prestige. Sometimes a bit much but pretty solid

  2. I loved this list so much. I have watched and admired all of these films. My list would probably look exactly the same. For me any of these guys could be number 1 but I loved how you put Nolan first. His movies have some problems but when you think about it you can’t complain after you come out of a Nolan movie right? Have you seen Nolan’s “Insomnia” though?

I also love you you put Kathryn Bigelow on the list!

I don’t know who I would take out but I’d possibly put Alfred Hitchcock…..

    Sill well done list!
